Summary:A Caesarian operation produced Louise Brown the first baby ever to be conceived outside her mother's womb. A technique pioneered in the UK was used to remove an egg from the mother, fertilise it in the laboratory and return it to the womb to mature. Louise was a normal baby, weighing 5 pounds 12 ounces (2.6 kilograms).
