Summary:In Nicaragua President Anastasio Somoza was driven from office. His multi-millionaire family had controlled the government of the country for over thirty years. The Sandinista National Liberation Front, driving on the capital, Managua, from north and south, the Sandinista guerrillas were dug in in the poor areas by early June, under heavy bombardment from the government forces. Pressure from Washington and from the OAS forced President Somoza to resign.
