Summary:President Jimmy Carter of the USA called for an international show of disapproval of the Soviet presence and on the IOC to move the 1980 Games from Moscow. CARTER:- 'I sent a message today to the US Committee spelling out my own position: that unless the Soviets withdraw their troops within a month from Afghanistan, that the Olympic Games be moved from Moscow to an alternate site or sites or postponed, or cancelled.'
