Summary:On March 18, the Iranian news agency IRNA, claimed microbic and nerve gases had been used by Iraq during the four-year-long Gulf War. Iran claimed more than 2000 of its soldiers had been affected by chemical warfare although Iraq denied the use of such weapons. Many badly injured soldiers were sent to Europe and Japan for treatment. A UN team travelled to Iran to investigate the allegations.
