- Story Text: German peacekeepers miles way from home watched the World Cup, on the first day of the competition, featuring the match, pitting Germany against Costa Rica.
Germany's contribution to ISAF comprises about 2488 soldiers stationed mainly in Kabul and north of Afghanistan, as a part of international security assistance provided by NATO to the Afghan government, helping consolidate security in the capital Kabul and its surrounds.
