- Story Text: Tendai Chimusasa of Zimbabwe won the Luxembourg round of the IAAF World Cross Challenge on Sunday (February 25) as Colleen De Reuck of South Africa won the women's race.
Most of the dominant Kenyan runners were competing in the IAAF event in Nairobi on Saturday (February 24), reducing the strength of the field for the race run in mud and snow.
In the 4.8 kilometre women's event, De Reuck crossed the line in 16 minutes 16 seconds, 19 seconds faster than Britain's Paula Radcliffe in second place.
Gabriela Szabo of Romania took third in 17 minutes with Lithuania's Stefania Statkuviene fourth in 17 minutes 03 seconds.
Rose Cheruiyot of Kenya, who won in Nairobi on Saturday, leads the women's standings with 94 points, just three ahead of Radcliffe with Szabo in third on 85.
In the men's race, Chimusasa finished the 10.2 kilometre course in 31 minutes 57 seconds to beat Britain's Keith Cullen by nine seconds. Richard Kosgei of Kenya finished third in 32 minutes 25 seconds, six seconds faster than fourth placed Jan Pesava of the Czech Republic.
Cullen's second pushed him into equal eighth place in the standings, level with Daniel Komen of Kenya on 44 points. James Kariuki of Kenya, who was unplaced in Nairobi, leads the placings with 97 points from compatriot Philip Mosima on 64.
