- Story Text: Eighty-five year-old British statesman Sir Winston Churchill, accompanied by Lady Churchill, boarded "Christina", luxury yacht of Greek shipping millionaire Aristotle Onassis, at Tangier, Morocco, Mar 10.
The Churchills will be Mr. Onassis' guests for a month-long cruise to the Canary Islands and the West Indies, with a possible call at Miami, Florida, USA. However, Sir Winston wants to be back in England before French President De Gaulle, his wartime colleague, arrives, April 6. Lord Moran, Sir Winston's physician and friend, is also aboard the palatial 1700-ton yacht.
It was expected the Churchills would board "Christina" at Gibraltar, but strong winds forced their BEA "Viscount" to continue to Tangier, Mar 9. They were met by British Consul-General Mr. Bryce Nairn, and stayed in a hotel until "Christina" crossed the Straits of Gibraltar to pick them up.
