Summary:More than a quarter of a million black South African mine-workers voted to continue their strike on August 26, after mines' management refused to better their offer of a 15-23 per cent pay rise. The National Union of Mineworkers had asked for 30 per cent but reduced that figure to 27 per cent. Mines' management announced that some 13,000 miners would be sacked.
