Summary:At least nine people were killed and 40 wounded when Israeli jets bombed Hizbollah and Palestinian positions in South Lebanon on October 21. The air raids, which were heavier than Israel's 10 previous air strikes on Lebanon in 1988, were apparently in retaliation for a Hizbollah suicide car bomb which killed seven Israeli soldiers and wounded eight others near the Israeli border on October 19.
