Summary:Vietnam declared it had ended its 11-year military presence in Kampuchea/Cambodia on September 26 as the final contingent of 26,000 troops crossed the border at Moc Bai. Hundreds of ageing buses rolled across the border carrying Vietnamese troops who had spent the previous night on the Kampuchean/Cambodian side of the border. Many Kampuceans/Cambodians said they were happy the Vietnamese rescued them from the brutal rule of the Khmer Rouge. With the withdrawal completed the Kampuchea reverted to the name Cambodia.
