Summary:On May 1, for the first time in more than 70 years of May Day celebrations, Moscow's Red Square was filled with many thousands of civilians who jeered and booed the Kremlin leadership standing on the terrace of Lenin's mausoleum. After remaining on the viewing terrace for 20 minutes, Gorbachev and his Kremlin colleagues left the monument to a chorus of boos and jeers.
