- Story Text: South Korea's top boyband Super Junior promoted its sixth album on Tuesday (July 3) and said it is ready to conquer Asia and beyond.
The new album titled "Sexy, Free & Single" with 10 songs was released on Sunday (July 1) and the songs topped local music charts.
"We're back with the sixth album after a year, since the fifth album 'Mr. Simple.' First of all, we're very tensed, but excited. Also we're very grateful that our members can perform together again," said Lee Teuk, leader of Super Junior, at a news conference in Seoul.
The 12-member boyband's new title song is also named 'Sexy, Free & Single' which is a mixture of house and soul R&B music. The song talks about the success stories of single men.
Super Junior said the fans will like the concept of the latest album.
"This time, we're finally openly saying 'we're sexy,' which our fans like the most. We're very much looking forward to showing more of our sexiness to the fans," said Lee.
A music video of the new title song was unveiled to media at a news conference in Seoul at noon (0300gmt). Then the video was posted on the boyband's official website, Youtube and Facebook for long-waiting fans.
Gang-in, a member of the boyband, returned the team for the album after his mandatory military service while the team leader Lee will be called up for the military service after the album.
Two members couldn't participate in this album -- Heechul, who is serving his military service, and Kim Kibum, who is focusing on his acting career.
The popular group called for more attention and love to K-pop.
"I think K-pop will gain more popularity throughout the world. We would like to ask people to show more attention and love to K-pop so that it can be long loved across the world," said Lee.
The boyband is managed by SM Entertainment which has spawned several K-pop boy and girl bands which have churned out hit after hit across Asia, even some parts of Europe, after careful grooming and rigorous training.
Super Junior will start performing on stage on Thursday (July 5) for a local cable music show, Mnet's Mcountdown. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
