- Story Text: American pop sensation the Jonas Brothers were given a rock stars reception by hundreds of shrieking fans - mostly teenage females - at the London premiere of their new Disney teen musical 'Camp Rock' on Wednesday (September 10) at the Royal Festival Hall.
The Disney Channel cable film is the first feature for the three brothers - 19 year old Joe, Nick, aged 16, and 20 year old Kevin.
'Camp Rock' has already been a hit with American audiences, becoming the second highest rating original movie fore Disney, coming in behind a movie from the studio's other hit franchise, 'High School Musical 2.' The movie revolves around the life lessons learned by an aspiring teen singer (Demi Lovato).
The brothers, who released their third studio album 'A Little Bit Longer' last month hope the success carries over the UK and European audiences.
"We really hope so, you know, we can only cross our fingers and wish the best. For us, being able to be here in London, premiering a movie is a dream come true and I can't believe we're actually doing it," said Kevin Jonas.
The brothers, who are known for their clean-cut image and Christian values say Disney is the perfect partner for them and their brand of music
"I think for us Disney's a great partner to work with and LA and Hollywood is part of them as well. So anything we get to do with them is really an honour and they're such a great family company and that's what we're all about as well," Nick Jonas told reuters Television.
Disney was quick to capitalise on Camp Rock's success, with a sequel already planned for next year.
Rich Ross, President Of Disney Channels Worldwide said he believed Disney had found it's next goldmine franchise.
"I think we've seen the success very quickly, I mean Camp Rock's album, in the States has been in the top ten for ten weeks and we're seeing a lot of the same similarities to what happened with 'High School Musical'. High School musical 2 has now been seen by 287 million people, so there's a journey to go and 'Camp Rock' is just at the beginning," he said Fans were treated to a special live performance by the brothers and their Camp Rock co-star Demi Lovato after Wednesday's premiere.
The movie has it's first UK broadcast on the Disney Channel on September 19. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
