- Story Text: Hundreds of Kuwaiti children gathered to protest in a show of support for Lebanon and Hizbollah on Tuesday (August 1).
The protest, organised by a local Shia's group, saw children gather with anti-American and anti-Israel banners for a rally in Sheik, 6 km from Kuwait City.
The group have arranged a serious of pro-Lebanon demonstrations to show their anger over the war in Lebanon and what they say is a failure of the international community to stop the rising death toll.
The protest is part of a wave of outrage from Arab nations over the past days.
Arab governments pressed on Monday for a ceasefire between Israel and Hizbollah in Lebanon and faulted the United Nations for failing to impose one.
On the streets of Egypt and in the Kuwaiti parliament, Arabs said Washington had the blood of Lebanese civilians on its hands because of its opposition to an immediate ceasefire.
In the worst incident of its kind in almost three weeks of fighting, at least 54 civilians were killed in the south Lebanese town of Qana on Sunday in an Israeli air raid.
The attack outraged Arab opinion and pushed Arab governments friendly with the United States to press harder for an end to the conflict, which Israel says it intends to continue.
In central Cairo some 500 to 600 demonstrators held up traffic with a protest in support of Hizbollah and hostile to Israel, the United States and President Mubarak.
In Tripoli, about 200 children marched through the streets carrying banners which said "The Qana massacre is a barbaric crusade", "Where is the international community?" and "The UN should bear its responsibility or not exist".
In Kuwait, a staunch U.S. ally, several lawmakers slammed Washington on Monday for not acting to end Israel's war on Lebanon, with one deputy blasting U.S. leaders as "sons of dogs". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
