Summary:Russian President Boris Yeltsin on April 26 won fresh Western support for his reform programmes as the first results from the previous day's national referendum showed he had won a confidence vote from his electorate. Preliminary results from the referendum showed that the president had gained 58.5 per cent support in a vote of confidence and 52.7 per cent support for his economic policies.
