Summary:US missiles ripped into Iraq's intelligence headquarters early on June 27 to avenge an alleged plot to kill former president and 1991 Gulf War leader George Bush. But nearby homes were also demolished and several civilians killed. In all, 23 Tomahawk cruise missiles were fired from US warships in the Red Sea and the Gulf.
