Summary:Israel's Supreme Court on July 29 quashed John Demjanjuk's conviction and death sentence for Nazi war crimes but the decision was met with anger by a crowd outside the court. The judges ruled there was reasonable doubt whether Demjanjuk was the real Ivan the Terrible. Demjanjuk, a 73-year-old Ukrainian who had been stripped of his US citizenship and extradited to Israel in 1986, showed little emotion as his 16-year-long legal battle ended in acquittal.
