Summary:Britain's Prince Charles began a visit on May 16 to Russia's second city of St Petersburg, birthplace of the revolution that swept his distant Romanov relations from the throne. The Prince was welcomed at St Petersburg airport by Mayor Anatoly Sobchak. Later the 45-year-old Prince paid homage to the memory of Russian tsars in St Peter and Paul's Cathedral. The trip is the first by a leading member of the British royal family since the Russian revolution.
