Title:Zaire-Rwanda-Uganda: Rwandan Refugees Continue To Die Of Cholera
Date:26th July 1994
Summary:The plight of hundreds of thousands of Rwandan refugees in camps around the Zairean town of Goma showed no sign of easing on July 26. In two of the major camps, Munighi and Kibumba, people continued to fall prey to cholera and other diseases. Refugees returning home to escape disease and starvation in the Zairean camps were bringing cholera to the Rwandan town of Gisenyi. The head of US forces sent to aid nearly two million Rwandan refugees in eastern Zaire said the operation might focus on providing clean water instead of food. More food aid arrived at Entebbe in Uganda on Tuesday aboard giant C-5A Galaxy aircraft of the US Air Force as part of the international relief operation for Rwandan refugees in Zaire.
