- Title: Germany: A Military Tattoo To Honour Allied Troops Leaving Berlin
- Date: 8th September 1994
- Summary: A German army band, flanked by torch-carrying troops, put on a glittering military tattoo at Berlin's floodlit Brandenburg Gate on September 8 to honour Allied troops leaving the city after guarding the city for 49 years. Chancellor Helmut Kohl, British Prime Minister John Major, US Secretary of State Warren Christopher and French Defence Minister Francois Leotard joined Berliners for the ceremony. Earlier, Kohl and his guests hailed the defence of Berlin and the 1948-49 Berlin Airlift as one of history's great success stories. A small group of leftists protested against the tattoo, calling it a militaristic ceremony. Police quickly broke up the groups and detained the protesters.WARNING:LOCAL MUSIC LICENCES MAY APPLY.Copyright laws covering the composition, arrangement and/or performance of music differ from country to country, and even from state to state within some countries. These range from limiting the law to specific circumstances - e.g. 'performances given by professionals to a paying audience' - to total coverage that encompasses everything from a professional performance to the most amateur rendition - e.g. 'spectators at sports events'. If in doubt we recommend that either the section containing 'Music' is deleted or that the sound level is turned down and covered with commentary.
