- Title: France: Rush Hour Bomb
- Date: 17th August 1995
- Summary: Sixteen people were injured in a rush-hour bomb explosion outside a busy underground railway station in central Paris on August 17 - the French capital's second blast in three weeks. A police spokesman said the explosion was in a rubbish bin at the corner of Charles de Gaulle square and Friedland avenue. Investigators found fragments of a gas canister, in which the explosive was apparently packed along with nails to cause maximum damage. Doctors set up a field hospital in a shop and witnesses saw at least 10 medical workers treating several injured people. A bomb went off in the central Saint-Michel Metro station on July 25, killing seven people and wounding more than 80. Police have said they suspected Algerian Moslem fundamentalist guerrillas set off the first explosion, the worst in Paris since a wave of bomb attacks in 1986.
