  • Story Text: At least three people have been killed and several
    injured in clashes between Serbs and Abanians in the Northern
    Kosovo town of Mitrovica.

    Three Serb civillians were killed and several injured
    in clashes which erupted between local Albanians and a group
    of Serbs travelling through the Kosovo town of Mitrovica on
    Tuesday (October 5).

    At least ten Albanians, 10 French peacekeepers and 6
    Russian soldiers are also said to have been injured in the
    clashes.

    The clashes erupted when a column of Serb vehicles,
    escorted by Russian peacekeepers approached the town of
    Mitrovica and was attacked by an angry crowd of ethnic
    Albanians gathered in the town for a reburial ceremony of
    eighteen local Albanians killed earlier during the year and
    buried in a mass grave in the nearby village of Vidimriq.

    It was not immediately clear how the clashes began.
