- Story Text: Two Philippine Air Force pilots have been killed when
their small plane crashed into a computer factory just south
of the capital Manila.
Killed in the crash on Thursday (December 12) were the
pilot of the ill-fated airforce trainer jet and his co-pilot
whose bodies were later flown to a nearby airforce base.
Nine workers were injured when the Italian-made SF-260
Marchetti plane tore through the factory's roof and ploughed
into two rooms at the quality control section.
The factory is one of about 15 factories in an industrial
park in Batangas, about 55 km (35 miles) south Manila, and is
owned by the Japanese firm Ibiden Co.
The aircraft, a trainer plane reconfigured for combat
duty, had been in the air for about 45 minutes while on a
proficiency flight when it crashed, an air force spokesman
said.
The cause of the crash is being investigated.
