- Story Text: A plane crash survivor returned to the crash site and examined the wreckage of the Antonov cargo plane which crashed on the northern Philippines on Wednesday (April 21).
Philippine authorities confirmed that the crash left three crew members dead while three others were pulled out of the plane and given immediate medication.
The survivor who refused to give his name confirmed that he was the flight engineer of the Russian-made cargo ship.
"When we stop it already, the three of us has been escaped, all three of us from window," the survivor said.
The Antonov 12 with cargo plane number UP-AN 216 took off from Cebu province and was on its way to Clark airport in Pampanga when it crashed on a rice field along a village in the province of Pampanga.
The authorities are still investigating the possible cause of the incident, but aircraft officers believe that an electric malfunction caused a fire that led to the plane's crash.
"He (the survivor) alleged that there was an electric fire. An electric short circuit on flight that caused his engine to quit so he lost first engine number one, and then followed by the three engines so he has no option but to force-land the aircraft on this field," Jose Sablan, chairman of a local government aircraft agency said.
According to a local report, on board were three Russians, two Uzbekis and a Bulgarian.
The identities of the killed victims are still being verified. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
