Here you have this guy that sort of trapped within the confines of his own life and the suburbs and is desperately trying to seek a unique life, trying to fulfill his childhood dreams and tragically doesn't have the courage for that. That was something I'd never attempted before. And of course, the opportunity to work with Kate again, who is the best actress of our generation - I really wanted to find and both of us have been actively looking for something to do together."

- Story Text: They made history in "Titanic," now Kate Winslet and Leonardo DiCaprio reunite on-screen in the emotional 1950s drama, "Revolutionary Road."
Based on Richard Yates' 1961 novel, "Revolutionary Road" tells the story of Frank and April Wheeler -- a couple with big dreams. The pair struggle to reconcile the realities of family, jobs and responsibility with their yearnings for freedom and find themselves in a marriage that is crumbling.
DiCaprio says Frank Wheeler is the first non-heroic man that he felt compelled to play.
"I enjoyed the fact that this dialogue was so raw and unnerving," he said.
"It was such a departure from anything I've ever done in the past and both of us realized that."
Kate Winslet's husband, Sam Mendes directs the film - but there's no nepotism here. In fact, Winslet is the one who found the script and brought it to Mendes and DiCaprio. But the actress does say that having her husband on set certainly made for some 'interesting moments.' especially during the sex scenes.
'Walking into the set and thinking okay, my husband's over there directing the scene and everyone's okay with that - I did have a little moment of that's definitely a bit weird right there. So, okay, what's gonna happen next? They were fine with it and I just had to get over my feelings of trepidation. Sam was brilliant. If he did feel awkward about it, he did a very good job of hiding it. He really did. I remember him yelling from the next room 'grab her thigh. No, really grab her thigh.' Okay... that's not strange at all."
"Revolutionary Road" hits theaters just in time for Oscar season and who knows, maybe this time, the doomed lovebirds will both get a nod from the Academy. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
