Summary:The successful French Olympic team was immortalised on September 6, leaving their handprints and some footprints in concrete after being honoured by President Jacques Chirac. For the first time, French medal winners were decorated with the Legion of Honour while others received the Order of Merit. After receiving their awards, the athletes made their prints in cement at the National Institute for Sports & Gymnastics.
