- Story Text: It's being called a duet by two of the greatest female singers of two different generations. Barbra Streisand and multiple-Grammy winner Celine Dion have joined forces in a recording studio to perform the first song on Streisand's new album.
The single is called "Tell Him," and appropriately enough, the subject matter is an older woman imparting advice on love and relationships to a younger woman.
The song marks the first pairing of the duo.
But it isn't the first time Streisand and Dion have gone head-to-head. Both ladies were nominated for Best Song at this past year's Oscars - Streisand for "I've Finally Found Someone," from her film "The Mirror Has Two Faces," and Dion for "Because You Loved Me," from the Robert Redford film "Up Close and Personal." In the end, both lost out to Andrew Lloyd Weber, Tim Rice and Madonna, who won the trophy for their new song from the film "Evita" called "You Must Love Me." "Tell Him" will be the first song on Streisand's upcoming release "Higher Ground." It's a collection of new and classic songs due out in America on November 11. This will be followed by the November 18 release of Celine Dion's new album "Let's Talk About Love," on which the single will also appear.
Barbra Streisand is an Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Tony and Golden Globe winner. In all, 36 of her albums are certified gold, 20 have reached platinum status, and 11 have been certified multi-platinum.
French-Canadian-born Celine Dion recently won worldwide acclaim and three Grammy Awards for her multi-paltinum selling album "Falling Into You." Her follow-up "Let's Talk About Love," features songs written by Carole King and The Bee Gees in addition to the Streisand duet. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
