- Story Text: - Posh Spice can expect a higher celebrity count at her wedding next year than was evident at the Los Angeles premiere of her band's first film, "Spice World".
The Spice Girls rolled into the West Coast on board a London double decker bus on Thursday (January 22) to publicise their new movie in the United States. However, fellow celebrities were in short supply.
Baby Spice told one reporter "we've heard there's lots of famous people here," but the Spice Girls were their own premiere's only headliners.
Attending the premiere were the entire group -- Emma Bunton (Baby Spice), Geri Halliwell (Ginger Spice), Melanie Brown (Scary Spice), Melanie Chisolm (Sporty Spice) and Victoria Adams (Posh Spice) as well as comedian-author Stephen Fry.
"Spice World" is the semi-autobiographic celebration of the meteoric success of what has proven to be one of pop's hottest bands, set against the more hipper aspects of '90s London.
Directed by Bob Spiers, whose television credits include Fawlty Towers and Absolutely Fabulous, the movie strives to be a mix of The Beatles "Hard Day's Night" and "This Is Spinal Tap." Starring alongside the girls in the movie are Meatloaf, who plays the driver of their fancy bus Richard E. Grant as their beleaguered manager and Roger Moore as an evil corporate director.
The film opened in the band's native Britain at Christmas last year. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
