- Title: Bahamas: Nassau Classic Car Festival
- Date: 10th January 1997
- Summary: Former world Formula One motor racing champions Stirling Moss of Britain, and Phil Hill of the United States led the field at the inaugural Nassau Classic Car Festival in the Bahamas on January 10 1997. The festival is a celebration of the end-of-the-season speed weeks held from 1953-1965 on the island of Nassau. Some 40 cars, valued at over 10 million U.S. dollars, gathered for the speed week, a mix of racing and practicing. Moss and Hill were regular winners at the Oakes Field races, and both returned to re-live their glory days. Moss arrived with the same Aston Martin in which he won the rally in 1959, one of three occasions he won the Nassau Trophy. Speed week organiser Brian Redman recreated the Le Mans start, with drivers running to their cars, in the exact spot of the original Nassau Trophy races. Moss, once famous for being the first away, proved himself almost as fast 40 years later by taking the lead at the start.
