- Story Text: Reuters caught up with New York rapper Puff Daddy when he played London this weekend - performing with his 'extended family' at Wembley Arena. He celebrated the concert afterwards with girlfriend Jennifer Lopez and friends at a hip London club.Confusion surrounds the last minute cancellation of Puff's Saturday night gig at Wembley.
When Puffy kicked off his first European tour in March, he promised fans that the London leg would offer something extra and he surely didn't disappoint.
Performing in front of a 9000-strong audience, at what turned out to be his final concert of the tour on Friday (April 7) at London's Wembley Arena, Puffy was joined on stage by the raunchy and frequently scantily-clad rapper, Lil Kim, Bad Boy R&B act 112, Carl Thomas, Donnell Jones and Sisqo.
Special guests who attended the concert included supermodel Naomi Campbell, footballer David Ginola and his boxing chum Prince Naseem, the current WBO featherweight champion.Joining him backstage before the aftershow party at Rock, were girlfriend American actress singer Jennifer Lopez and son Justin.
Speaking backstage, Puff said the London date was the ideal end to the tour.
'Wembley, London, the perfect finish to the European tour.It was great, all the fans all over Europe were great.I just want all the fans for supporting me.I'm now ready to go back to the States, he said.' Sisqo - also a member of the US band Dru Hill, flew in especially for the gig but the trip also coincided with the UK release of his single 'Thong Song', released in the UK on Monday (April 10).Dru Hill fans needn't be concerned as the band have plans to record again as a group soon.
Fellow R& B singer Donnell Jones was also invited to join the family for the London date.
'Puffy he called me up, he said he wanted me to come out have a good time and I flew in yesterday, and I came to do the show and it was incredible.Like I say the UK is number one for me they are my number one fans and they show me love everytime I come here so I love performing here in the UK,' Jones said.
A huge bash was organised at London's trendy Rock bar to celebrate the tour.Puff and Jennifer and the rest of the family were said to have partied all night long.
Confusion surrounds the cancellation of a second Puff Daddy concert which was to have been held at Wembley Arena on Saturday (April 8).Although Arista records deny having confirmed a second date, Peter Tudor, Sales and Marketing Manager of Wembley Arena told Reuters that many tickets were sold for a second night and they were informed of the decision to pull the concert (on Saturday April 8) midway through the Friday performance.Fans were informed via local radio and television but approximately 300 fans who were not aware of the cancellation turned up at the Arena only to face disappointment. All tickets will be refunded. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
