Vo Van Kiet was speaking on March 8 at the start of a three-day visit to India, he was greeted at the Presidential Palace by Prime Minister H.D. Deve Gowda.Addressing an international corporate conference in New Delhi, Kiet underlined the need for increased co-operation among Asian countries. The conference, the eighth in the series, was held under the aegis of The Asia Society During a meeting with Indian President Shankar Dayal Sharma, Kiet recalled India's support during the Vietnam war and with post-war economic development. He said the two nations should work together to make their bilateral relations even stronger. The Indian President said there was immense scope for economic co-operation as well as in the field of cultural exchange. He added that the two countries should build upon their old friendship.
