- Story Text: Canadian singer Alanis Morissette, U.S. bands Korn and Papa Roach along with Pink Floyd legend Roger Waters headlined the four day long second Caracas Pop Festival which wrapped up on Sunday (March 17) No Doubt, led by Gwen Stefani, was the hit of Saturday's (March 16) performance at the Caracas Pop Festival despite the fact that few of their songs were familiar to the Venezuelan audience.
"Since we were teenagers we liked Ska (music)," Stefani said during a news conference ahead of No Doubt's performance.
"Its a sound that really inspired us, starting in 1987 when we formed the group, 15 years ago, now we're inspired by Punk Rock, Reggae"
Wearing tight tiger striped pants, a short tee-shirt and a neck tie, the singer enraptured the crowd of more than 35,000. Between acrobatic leaps and sensual gyrations, Stefani covered various hit songs included "I'm just a girl"
"Ex-girlfriend" and "Hey baby".
The Chilean rock group. "La Ley" warmed up the audience for the North American artists in a performance that included both electric and acoustic numbers. Their repertoire consisted mainly of songs from their acoustic album 'Unplugged" that was recorded for MTV.
"We're really proud to be Latinos, we're really proud to have started here," said Mauricio Claveria from La Ley.
"The truth is we're not really a new group, we've been together for almost 13 years so we feel really good."
Alanis Morissette, who arrived only a few hours before the concert, sang a selection of songs from her new album, "Under Rug Swept" written and produced solely by her and featuring her keyboard and guitar work as well as vocals.
