Summary:June 15 1919 - a notable day in the history of aviation. In this aircraft, crash-landed in an Irish field, two British aviators had made the first trans-Atlantic flight. John Alcock and Arthur Brown took off from Newfoundland in a converted bomber to make their 16 hour, 27 minutes flight. Both men were honoured throughout Britain. However, a few months later on a flight to France, he crashed and was killed.
