- Story Text: An Israeli hair stylist performs a haircut using 10 scissors in a bid to break a Guinness World Record he himself set in 2001.
An Israeli stylist said he broke his own Guinness World Record on Monday (May 5) as he performed a hairdo by simultaneously using ten pairs of scissors.
At his small beauty salon in the Israeli desert town of Dimona, hairdresser Danny Bargil prepared to break his Guiness World Record for performing a haircut using seven 7-scissors in 2001.
"Today I plan to break it (the former record) with ten pairs of scissors, in honour of the state's 60th anniversary celebrations," Bargil told Reuters Television on the week Israel celebrates 60 years of independence.
Bargil moved close to the model seated on a chair, then speedily, holding 10 pairs of scissors in one hand only, passed 20 cutting-edges though the woman's hair. After a few minutes he was done.
"With every pair of scissors that I place on my finger, it gives me more power and more inspiration....(Using) Ten pairs of scissors is a unique technique, with many advantages comparing to using one, two, three and seven pairs," Bargil said.
Bargil, age 51, said he had always dreamt of setting a world record. As a teenager, he says he used to spend hours watching his brother, also a barber, at work.
The walls of Bargil's salon are covered with certificates, including the Guinness Book of Records certificate granting him the "World Record" title for his 7-scissor haircut in 2001.
Bargil says he plans to send video footage of his work to Guinness Book of Records and await official recognition.
"Breaking a Guinness record for the second time is very, very exciting especially when you are breaking your own record. That is even more exciting," Bargil said. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
