Summary:Foreign ministers from Poland, Hungary and the Czech Republic, lobbying US congressionals to vote in favour of admitting their countries into NATO (North Atlantic Treaty Organisation). Foreign ministers Bronislaw Geremek of Poland, Laszlo Kovacs of Hungary and Jaraslav Sedivy of the Czech Republic met with Secretary of State Madeline Albright on February 9. Their meeting was part of a two-day private Washington forum, to cement congressional support for their countries' inclusion in NATO. The three countries cannot join NATO until the parliaments of all 16 existing members have ratified the move.
