Summary:Twenty-three people have been injured after a Japan Air Lines (JAL) plane overshot the runway while landing in heavy rain at Manila airport. The accident happened late on June 14 at the Manila international airport. The MD-11 jumbo jet carrying 264 passengers from Japan's Narita airport skidded as the plane touched down on the wet runway. The incident forced the temporary closure of the airport. Witnesses said some of the passengers got out of the aircraft using the emergency chutes. Officials said the 23 passengers who suffered slight injuries included seven Japanese, a Briton and several Filipinos.
