Summary:On December 1 1927, Soong Mai-ling, a member of a leading Chinese family, married Chiang Kai-shek. American-educated, Madame Chiang became her husband's most important Minister throughout the war against Japan and later, during the civil war against Mao's communists. Throughout all the conflicts, she worked tirelessly for the wounded and disabled and travelled extensively on her husband's behalf.
