- Story Text: President Leopold Senghor of Senegal arrived in Cairo on Saturday (15 November) on a four-day official visit. He was greeted at the airport by President Sadat.
The Senegalese President was given a 21-gun salute as he left his plane. He then inspected a guard of honour on the tarmac before driving with Mr. Sadat to the Kubbeh Republican Palace where he stayed.
The two Presidents will hold talks on the Middle East, African problems and bilateral relations.
Their talks on Africa are expected to deal with the situation in the Spanish Sahara and Angola.
President Senghor, a poet, will also meet several Egyptian poets and authors.
Before going to Egypt, he visited Sudan where President Jaffar El Nimeiry awarded him with the Medal of Honour for his support for freedom in Africa and for Arab-African solidarity.
