SYNOPSIS: N'Djamena Airport in Chad with Congo President Marien Ngouabi arriving for a state visit. He was welcomed by the Chad Head of State, General Felix Malloum and later the two men had talks on relations between their two countries.
President Ngouabi and General Malloum also had discussions on the situation arising from the kidnapping by Toubou rebels in north chad of French archaeologist Francoise Claustre.
The French Government's decision to ransom the archaeologist has -- since President Ngouabi's visit-- led to chad ordering all French forces to leave the country.
The French Government has agreed to pay for her release with money and weapons -- a move that has led to a major row between Chad and France.
President Ngouabi also had talks with General Malloum on problems facing the Central African Economic and Monetary Union -- the group of states that have close trading links and ties with the European common Market.
General Malloum seized power in coup in April this year and since then both countries have exchanged delegations in moves that have improved relations between chad and the Congo.
