- Story Text: The Head of State of the People's Republic of the Congo, Marien Ngouabi arrived home in Brazzaville on Tuesday (August 7) after visits to The People's Republic of China, North Korea and North Vietnam.
During President Ngouabi's five day state visit to China he had talks with Chairman Mao Tse-tung, and Premier Chou En-Lai and signed an agreement on a major loan for the Congo Republic.
Observers in the Congo believe that visit will inaugurate an era of even closer cooperation between Peking and Brazzaville.
The People's Republic of China has already contributed important industrial developments to the Congo Republic. These include a large textile factory and a shipyard for wooden river cargo ships.
Chinese technicians are also preparing the construction of a big hydroelectric power project near Mouyondzi on the Bouendza River.
During his three day visit to North Korea, President Ngouabi had talks with the North Korean President Kim Il Sung.
President Ngouabi also had discussions with President Ton Duc Thang while in North Vietnam.
SYNOPSIS: At Brazzaville in the People's Republic of the Congo, on Tuesday--the return home of President Marien Ngouabi after a foreign tour which has taken him to The People's Republic of China, North Korea and North Vietnam.
During the five day state visit to China, President Ngouabi and his wife were entertained by the Chinese Premier Chou En-Lai at a banquet in the Great Hall of the People in Peking.
The Congo Republic leader also had talks with Chairman Mao Tse tung.
Agreement was reached on a loan for the Congo Republic. Observers in Brazzaville believe the Peking visit will herald an era of even closer relations between the Congo Republic and China.
Already China has made important contributions to Congo Republic development, including a textile factory and a shipyard for river boats.
