- Story Text: Fireworks and a plane crashing into a fiery wall kicked off a run of record-breaking shows by Roger Waters in Argentina.
Waters took the stage on Wednesday (March 07) in front of 60,000 people at Buenos Aires' massive Monumental Stadium.
According to organisers, Waters has sold more than 400,000 tickets, effectively filling the stadium nine times and replacing the Rolling Stones and Soda Stereo as the country's biggest historical draws.
The British rocker avoided the controversial theme of the Falklands, the British-ruled islands that Argentina lays claim to, but instead chose to dedicate the show to the 'disappeared' during Argentina's Dirty War of 1976 to 1983.
Last week, Rogers had told a Chilean reporter that the Falklands, known as 'Las Malvinas' in Spanish, should belong to Argentina, but then backtracked, saying the islanders should have the right to self-determination.
Tickets for the shows ran from 37 to 550 US Dollars. Waters last show in Buenos Aires will be on March 20. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
