- Story Text: Argentina and Manchester City striker Carlos Tevez arrived home to Buenos Aires on Wednesday (May 17) and took back the apology he made to Manchester United Coach Alex Ferguson after holding up a sign reading 'RIP Fergie' during City's Premier League championship celebration.
The controversial Tevez has gotten into hot water in England for speaking his mind and choosing his family over football.
City issued an apology to Ferguson, but Tevez distanced himself from the statement.
"It's like he's the president of England because everytime he says something bad about someone or says terrible things about me, I never ask him to apologise. Then when I make a joke, making fun of him I have to go out and ask for forgiveness. But I don't ask for forgiveness. I don't talk to him. I don't have contact with him," said a perenially relaxed Tevez at the airport outside Buenos Aires.
Fellow Argentine Sergio Kun Aguero gave City a dramatic victory with an injury-time winner for City's first Premier League title in 44 years.
Argentine Pablo Zabaleta also scored a goal in the final match against Queen Park Rangers.
"I'm proud to be with Pablo (Zabaleta) and Sergio (Kun) Aguero and be able to come out champions like we did, and with all the problems we have with England (referring to the diplomatic spat with the UK over sovereignty of the Falkland Islands). I'm proud, even more since Kun gave us the championship. It's a pleasure," said Tevez.
Tevez missed much of the season after a spat over playing time and a prolonged visit to Argentina for the birth of his daughter. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
