- Story Text: INTRODUCTION Argentina defeated Hungary 5-1 in an international friendly soccer match in Buenos Aires on Sunday (27 February). The match was dominated by the Argentines throughout.
SYNOPSIS: Hungary, wearing the all white strip, kicked off and started with a shot that narrowly missed opening their scoring.
Hungary's moments of glory were few and far between.
One of them came in the tenth minute when their goalkeeper saved a penalty attempt.
However, the Argentine team didn't take long to reply. The answer came just five minutes later when striker Bertoni volleyed in a cross for the game's opening goal.
The huge, home crowd waited just six minutes for another goal, it came from Luque. The build-up took some time.
However, at this stage the Argentine midfield was completely in control and their strikers were running at will.
After several raids on the Hungarian goal, Luque eventually reached a cross first and scrambled the ball into the net -- off the feet of a defender.
Argentina's third goal came two minutes later when Bertoni scored from a drive.
The fourth goal was Luque's. Several shots were blocked before he forced the ball into the net.
The score at halftime was 4-1.
Early in the second half Bertoni completed his hat-trick. Then, just before the end, the Hungarians finally broke through and Istban Weimper scored their lone goal.
