- Story Text: A farewell parade was held on Wednesday (12 April) by the 2nd Battalion of Infantry of the Ghana Army at Arakan barracks, Accra, in honour of Brigadier A.A. Afrifa, former Commander of the Battalion. Brigadier Afrifa has been appointed commander of the Ghana Military Academy and Training School.
The parade, which was watched by thousands of people, was under the command of Major E.A. Baidoo, who takes over the command of the Battalion from Brigadier Afrifa.
After taking the salute the Brigadier inspected a guard of honour mounted by six contingents of the Battalion made up of 404 men and 13 officers. Music for the march past, in slow and quick time formation, was provided by the Central Band of the Ghana Army.
A wall clock was presented to Brigadier Afrifa by the Matron of the Military Hospital, Lieutenant-Colonel Doris Butler-Aggrey.
Addressing the troops the Brigadier described the Battalions as tough and hard hitting, and thanked them for their co-operation during the course of his command.
