- Story Text: World Cup teams will be visiting two stadiums in towns in the south of South Africa: Port Elizabeth and Cape Town.
The Nelson Mandela stadium on the shore of North End Lake in Port Elizabeth and was purpose-built for the stadium.
As well as group stage matches and a round of 16 match, it will host a quarter-final and a play-off for third place in the tournament. The stadium seats 50,000 people who can see the Korea Republic/Greece, Ivory Coast/Portugal, Germany/Serbia, Chile/Switzerland and Slovenia/England matches in the group stage.
Cape Town's Green Point stadium is also newly-built with a distinctive "saddle" shape. It seats 68,000 spectators close to the ocean. The stadium looks solid in daylight but at night-time when lit up it becomes translucent, bathed in light.
Besides a round of 16, quarter-final and semi-final match, the stadium will host the Uruguay/France, Italy/Paraguay, England/Algeria, Portugal/Korea DPR and Cameroon/Netherlands matches. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
