- Story Text: South Africa's victorious Springboks rugby team arrived back in South Africa on Tuesday (October 23) after winning the rugby world cup on Saturday (October 20) by beating England.
Boks captain John Smit walked out of the airport terminal holding the Webb Ellis cup trophy to a rousing welcome by thousands of fans. While he climbed on a platform and held the trophy aloft his team mates were mobbed as they attempted to follow him, pushing their luggage trolleys.
After the welcome the players changed into their official uniform of blazers for officials and shirts for players before travelling by bus to another part of the airport for the news conference.
Crowds danced and sang in the terminal, holding up placards reading "Well done Boks". - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
