- Story Text: The trial of Virginia Mokgobo, a 27-year old former dormitory matron from the Oprah Winfrey Leadership Academy in South Africa resumed briefly on Monday (April 21).
Mokgobo, who entered the Sebokeng Magistrates Court wearing a towel over her head to avoid the waiting media, is accused of indecent and common assault, soliciting a minor to perform indecent acts and verbal abuse, while working for the billionaire philanthropist Oprah Winfrey in the girl's academy.
The presiding magistrate ordered Mokgobo to show her face before the hearing began.
The trial was quickly postponed, with Mokgobo who has been granted bail, being ordered to appear again on Friday (April 25).
Winfrey, who has herself told of suffering sexual abuse as a child, has described the charges against the matron as one of the most devastating experiences of her life. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
