- Story Text: Thousands of fans packed into Cape Town's Velodrome to see the rapper Jay-Z on Wednesday (October 11), and he left the crowd screaming for more at the end of each song.
Barbados born singer Rihanna, who is currently topping world charts, opened the show for Jay-Z to a packed audience. The hip hop artist has already toured five African countries where he visited areas where solutions are being developed to bring fresh water to communities.
As part of his Global Express Tour, which includes three South African dates, Jay-Z will travel to several regions around the globe affected by the world water crisis. The tour will be documented by MTV for a TV special, 'Diary of Jay-Z: Water for Life', which will air in November 2006. The special program will document Jay-Z's personal journey as he meets children and families who do not have access to safe drinking water.
Kabelo Mabalane of TKZEE fame was amongst some of the local stars who lent their talents to support the concert. The duo are scheduled to perform in Durban on Thursday (October 12) and Johannesburg on the 13th. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
