- Story Text: A judge in South Africa has sentenced Chris Mahlangu to life in prison on Wednesday (August 22) for the murder of white supremacist Eugene Terre'blanche.
Terre'blanche, a former leader of the right-wing AWB, was bludgeoned to death on his farm on the outskirts of Ventersdorp in April 2010.
Judge John Horn handed down the sentence at the Ventersdorp Magistrate's Court, saying Mahlangu committed a heinous crime and showed no regard for human life.
"Count two - murder - accused One is sentenced to life imprisonment," said Judge Horn.
Mahlangu will serve 25 years before he is considered for parole.
A clinical psychologist had told the court on Tuesday (August 21) that Terre'blanche sodomised his former employee, Chris Mahlangu on more than one occasion.
The psychologist said Mahlangu told him that he was HIV positive, which he believes was as a result of the sodomy.
The judge dismissed the sodomy claim and told Mahlangu that his allegations had no doubt brought the AWB leader's family immense pain.
Mahlangu's co-accused, 18-year old Patrick Ndlovu, who was convicted for breaking into Terre'blanche's house on the day he was killed, was given a suspended sentence and will spend two years in a youth care centre.
Ndlovu has apologised to the late AWB leader's family through his legal representative, Zola Majavu.
Majavu said his client did not plan to commit crime, but he happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. - Copyright Holder: FILE REUTERS (CAN SELL)
