- Story Text: Johnny Depp and Orlando Bloom brought cheers from their adoring Japanese fans as they participated the Asia premiere of their latest film "Pirates of the Caribbean: The world's end".
Hollywood star Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and other co-stars including Chow Yun-fat and Geoffrey Rush walked the red carpet on late Wednesday (May 23) at Tokyo's Budokan hall for the Asian premier of the "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End".
More than 6,000 screaming fans, mostly women in their twenties and thirties, packed the hall to give a hero's welcome especially to Depp and Bloom.
Both Depp and Bloom spent most of the time walking up to their devoted fans to shake their hands or write their autographs rather than speaking with hundreds of reporters who lined at the other side of red carpet.
Though most of fans' main interests were focused on Depp and Bloom throughout the premier event, actor Bill Nighy who played squid character Davey Jones knew very well how to snatch the audience's attentions from them for even a moment.
"I am very excited to be here in Budokan where Bob Dylan and the Rolling Stones had performed before," Bill Nighy spoke to fans in fluent Japanese when he was on a stage with co-stars and received as great cheer as Depp and Bloom had received on a red carpet.
To snatch back the audience cheers, Orlando Bloom followed his path.
"How are you? Thank you. I love you all," Orlando Bloom spoke to fans in Japanese without a note and received greater cheer than Nighy.
Johnny Depp, the lead actor who plays Captain Jack Sparrow, shied away from following them though urged by Bloom and Japanese fans to greet in Japanese.
"I am so happy that I spent weeks nearly a month to teach Bill Nighy and Jerry Bruckheimer how to speak Japanese," Depp joked.
The film opens on May 25 in Japan and in United States. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
